The Practical Uses of the Pashmina Shawl

Pashmina shawls are rather handy for all kinds of occasions as they’re painless to stick in your handbag if it gets too warm. The wool of the pashmina is a fantastic insulator, so instead of dragging around a heavy coat on a breezy spring or summer evening, a shawl will suffice as a useful overgarment.

Shawls have now become very trendy as a fashion accessory/apparel at weddings. The last two summers in the United Kingdom have been rather miserable, so perhaps this has promoted this new trend. White pashminas, as well as cream and gold are trendy selections for weddings, and look great if all the maids of honor have the same colour.

With a larger pashmina, it can also become a useful little blanket for long trips. And of course, it can turn into a scarf for the winter too.

There are two types of pashmina – the pure pashmina shawl, and the 70% pashmina / 30% silk variety. The non-pure pashmina you will find at lower cost than the pure pashmina counterpart, but it will be less warm. It’s your choice as to what you want to use your pashmina for. Is it only a fashion item, or also apparel to keep out the cold too? We strongly advocate pure pashminas to keep out the cold.
