The New Generation of Solar Power
At present, our world is facing a diversity of issues — increasing electricity bills, dwindling fossil fuels and environmental degradation. In pursuit of addressing these alarming concerns, man has utilized science more than ever by continually creating and developing innovative and sustainable technologies.
One concrete answer to these pressing environmental problems is by utilizing solar power, an energy source that is derived from sunlight. The sunlight is converted into electricity through the use of photovoltaic systems. The electricity may be used in various forms such as using it directly from the sun, feeding it into the grid system of an electric utility, or storing it in batteries.
Solar power is perhaps the best alternative source of energy because it is a renewable one and it is, of course, environmentally safe. Because solar power may be stored, it can still be used at night even without sunlight. Its operation also costs nothing because although it has a one-time installation cost, sunlight is free.
Just recently, the Pacific Coast Builders’ Conference was held and Andalay Solar Panels grabbed the Innovative Home Technology Award. Andalay is a new product of Akeena Solar, Inc., one of the largest installers of residential and small commercial solar power systems in the country. Andalay was developed with the customers’ needs in mind, providing built-in reliability, high performance, clean and elegant appearance, environmental sensitivity, and fast and safe installation.
